#iamimaji: Ria Juwita

If you are a woman in Indonesia, chances are you know who Raden Adjeng Kartini is. Born in an aristocratic family, she is an open-minded intellect who advocates for women's education, a writer, and is a heroine that fights for indigenous women's rights and equality.

Through her letters sent to her family and friends, she gave us an insight of a deeply critical and strong willed personality. Never shy about how she feels, she works hard for the collective good. These characteristics are timeless no matter what age, and I can see many resemblance of a modern Kartini in our muse today, Ibu Ria Juwita.

Strong-willed, loyal, dedicated, and reliable, Ibu Ria Juwita struts with a purpose and a mission in Indonesia's fashion industry. She is dedicated to Plaza Indonesia, Jakarta's most exclusive mall that sits in the heart of Jakarta. During the little time I have spent with her doing the Ministry of Cool project, I learnt a lot about business ethics, drive, and fearlessness. Since sharing is caring, its a pleasure to share with you what moulds a modern Kartini.

We strive to be strong, so we can do it ourselves, helping ourselves, helping ourselves often more than helping others, and who can help themselves, will be able to help others better.” -  R. A. Kartini

A modern Kartini is someone who is fearless, independent, smart, intelligent, strong sense of worth, kind to others and belief in what she stand for and fighting for, for good cause.

What life values do you stick by?
Be kind to others. What goes around comes around

Share to us about what you are passionate about.
So many. But I always have a weak spot for children and elderly people. I always think they deserve much attention and care.

How has the pandemic change your views on your everyday?
More postive than negative. In fact my life is more balance and happier during pandemic. More serene and full of gratitude.

Pandemic taught us all to stop being selfish to Mother Earth. Too many greeds on this planet that the universe strikes back to us. People should realise that and stop from being such idiots.

You are an embodiment of an empowered woman, what would you want to me say to another woman?
Do not stop doing great things. Keep inspiring and helping each other.

How has Plaza Indonesia survived the pandemic? The challenges, the lessons?

We are in the same ocean passing the same storm but in different boats.
Use this situation to introspect and to improve for a better future.

What do you hold most dear in life?
My life and my family.
We only live once, make the most of it.

Advice to girls stepping to womanhood?
Although life is not only about academic aspect, however proper education is important. You won’t survive without it in this century or next.
Having good values also important fundamental in life without it you won’t succeed to blend into the society.

Explore, discover, make mistakes, enjoy life for experience is the best professor. Be yourself and do not let others to determine your future. Only you know! I wish them good luck and welcome to the real world.
