Once a month in the heart of Jakarta’s bustling city, loud jazz music can be heard humming around the neighborhood, wrapping the noise of buzzing cars with smooth and rhythmic tunes. SOUP is a collaboration project by Jazz Picnic Indonesia, Tengah, and IMAJI Studio. It is something familiar, cozy, hearty, and a mix of different ingredients that come together beautifully. Combining Jazz, Living Space, and Apparel— the three main ingredients to create intimate sessions, deep conversations, and all for the sake of arts.
SOUP aims to serve soulful, intimate live music sessions. Our purpose is to:
- Discover music with rich roots and history through performances.
- Provide a space for talented musicians to express themselves authentically, showcasing their unique side as a fresh discovery for audiences or to revive something they have not felt in a long time.
- Offer an opportunity for musicians and audience to engage directly and to inspire each other. Musicians who are a part of the audience are welcome to join in and jam together, creating an organic and authentic music experience.
SOUP always takes place on the last Sunday of the month to emphasize what Sundays should be: time for relaxing, unwinding, and enjoying good music with good vibes. Sunday gives flexibility for people to come and watch our session as a way for them to spend time in excitement, ending the month on the perfect note. From kids to seniors, SOUP is a family-friendly space where music enthusiasts feel welcome.
